Silver Springs' Yorkshire Terriers

                      Our Breeding Program

We here at Silver Springs' Yorkies take pride in our Breeding Program we are 100% devoted to our Breed. We do not over breed our Yorkshire Terriers. They are only bred when the right age and in or after their second heat cycle or longer if need be, depending on our bitches. Our bitches or damns only have 1 litter per year.

Whelping Yorkshire Terrier Puppies is not easy, as there is many, many hours put into a whelping. I'm a stay at home Mother to our Children and our Yorkies so I can 100% devoted to them all, I work part time in our own Construction Company so I can be off when need be to be home for a breeding, whelping and care of our Damns and Puppies.

We now have our Yorkie Room finished and they will have their own room to breed and whelp and be cared for in. We take great care of our pregnant bitches/damns.

About a week before our whelping due date, I gather all our supplies and have them ready and make sure I have everything that I or my doll may need.  I start sleeping with our pregnant  bitches/damns about a week before their whelping due date, sometimes earlier if there are have been complications during their pregnancy.

I have a real baby Moses Basket that our bitches/dams sleeps or lays in so they don't have to climb up and down on our couch. I also use it on our whelping day since it already has our bitches/dams scent in it for our puppies. I just add a heating pad under some blankies to heat it up for our newborn Yorkshire Terrier Puppies in as our bitch/dam is whelping more puppies.

I never ever leave our pregnant bitches/damn a week before our whelping due date to go anywhere to do anything. If I should have to leave due to an emergency then I will make sure someone who is qualified (One of our family members who has assisted us in a whleping before) to assist in a whelping is here with our bitch/damn. I will not take any chances on our bitches/damns going into labor without me being here with her, this is a very scary time of any bitch/damn and I want to be here for her. I'm here to make her as comfortable as possible during her whelping time. I sit right there with her the whole time she is in labor and whelping to assist her and to help a newborn puppy if need be. I stay with her until I know our last puppy has been whelped then I clean up and help with my real children.

I sleep in our Yorkie Room with our new damn and our new litter of puppies for 3 weeks, to make sure they are nursing, not cold, that they are not laid upon and to make sure our new damn doesn't have any complications.
