Silver Springs' Yorkshire Terriers

On My Way

It has taken me some time to get "On My Way". I had to learn and understand the whys of not being a Backyard Breeder (BYB) and learn about the AKC Standards (I'm still learning), I had to revaluate my own Yorkshire Terriers and yes admit their faults (Not have Kennel Blindness), I had to retire some of them and still may have to retire more of them, I had to find a AKC Standard "Show Breeder and Exhibitor" who was willing to allow me to adopt one of their babies in order to improve my line of Yorkshire Terriers (Thank you to Sages Breeder.).

I have such a long way to go before I can say I'm there where I want to be in my Breeding Program. My passion is to one day to produce my very own ultimate Show Yorkshire Terrier to where I can be referred to as "Breeder, Owner, Handler". This is my hearts desire and my dream, it will be a reality one day soon.
I'm striving to produce the Ultimate Silver Springs' Yorkies Show Yorkshire Terrier and now I can honestly say "I'm On My Way"
Please read below how I'm learned as I'm On My Way to my dreams becoming a reality.

Stop & Think

If you have a "Pet Quality" (Pet Quality: Not of the AKC Standards for our Yorkshire Terrier Breed) male and female Yorkshire Terrier and are thinking about Breeding them please STOP right now before you breed them and read my story below and how to I choose to turn my life around with our Yorkshire Terrier Breed and do them honor by trying to breed toward the AKC Standards.

A Back Yard Breeder, A Lesson Learned

I once could of been considered a Back Yard Breeder "BYB" why might you ask, I never took the time to learn about our Yorkshire Terrier Breed before breeding them. I just adopted 2 Yorkie Puppies, let them grow up to be 16 Months Old (The stud) and Tiffanie 14 Months Old & in her 2nd heat cycle, then threw them together for a litter of Yorkie Puppies. (Sad but true, I admit my mistakes and try to fix my mistakes.)
I was blessed by the Grace of God to be able to assist in perfect whelpings with Tiffanie, we also was blessed by the Grace of God to have healthy Yorkshire Terrier puppies from Tiffanies breedings. And I also learned from these breedings and whelpings NOT to be a Back Yard Breeder.

A AKC Standard Breeders, Dream Becoming A Reality

I found a Yorkie Forum and this is where I learned I was not breeding our Beloved Yorkshire Terrier Breed the proper way. I had not studied our Breed, let alone know how to breed toward the AKC Standards, didn't really know much about them when I bred Tiffanie once I joined this Yorkie Forum boy did I learn right fast what I had chosen to do with breeding was not the proper way. So the more I learned from these AKC Show Breeders and Show Exhibiters the more I felt so guilty for doing our precious breed wrong and yes I did wrong and I admit my wrongs.

I took a step back and thought about it all and I choose to try to breed toward the AKC Standards and try to breed for the Ultimate Show Yorkshire Terrier. So that meant I had to really learn how to breed toward the AKC Standard way. So we had to start all over with our Breeding Stock as I realized my Tiffanie was not of AKC Standards, why I thought my Tiffanie was perfect...She was in my eyes but once I started studying the AKC Standards was I very wrong. My Tiffanie was way to large at 10 lbs and was Not of the AKC Standards of 7 lbs. so I knew in my heart we had to stop breeding her and start over in our Breeding Program and this is what we have done. I took some off from breeding and I'm enjoying learning about our Precious Beloved Breed, I will continue to learn about them each and every day. We hope to one day to whelp our very own Silver Springs' Show Yorkshire Terrier Puppy.

With Time

I've had some people down me for what I'm doing and yes even doubt me, and that is fine. I'm not out to make a quick buck out of my Yorkshire Terriers, if I was out to do that I would of never of had Our Tiffanie Spaded and retired from our breeding program. I know it takes time and yes my Sage is teaching me that time is a great lesson to be learned in breeding our precious Breed.

With time (And yes it may take me 20 or more years to get there) and knowledge that I'm learning from my research and my very special new Mentor (thank you so very much for taking the time to lead me in the right direction with our beloved Yorkshire Terrier Breed and for everything you have sent me  )  who has more than 25 years of experience in breeding, I know I will one day breed & whelp my own special, ultimate "Show" Yorkshire Terrier and one day be referred to as a "Breeder, Owner and Handler in the Show Ring of a
"Silver Springs' Yorkies"  Yorkshire Terrier.
